Regular Meeting

August 6, 2007

Minutes

The Park Commission for the City of Polk City met in regular session at City Hall in Polk City, Iowa. Present were, Bob Fourez, David Hiatt, Jim Hoppenworth, Denise Franck, and Council Liaison Rosemary Taylor. Chairman Pro-tem Fourez called the meeting to order at 6:30pm.

Hiatt made the motion to approve the minutes of July 2, 2007, second by Fourez. Motion was approved vocally and unanimously.

No audience input.

Hoppenworth made the motion to recommend to council the approval of the square for the wedding of Bridget Cordora and Rick Wiseman September 22, 2007 from 2:00 P. M. to 5:00 P.M., second by Hiatt. Motion passed vocally and unanimously.

Franck made the motion to recommend to council the approval of Kiwanis All Season Park for the 2007 Des Moines MS Bike Ride rest stop on September 9th, 2007, second by Hoppenworth. Motion passed vocally and unanimously.

The commission discussed the Request for use of the City Square form and recommended changes to the form and asked that it be put on the September meeting agenda for final review.

The commission discussed the proposed Consultant Services Agreement for the Master Park Plan, the commission would like to see that they have more input on the plans before it goes before city staff and the council.

Fourez made the motion to recommend to council the approval of the Consultant Service Agreement for Master Park Plan with it to say that Snyder and Associates will meet with the commission before meeting with City Staff, second by Hiatt. Motion passed vocally and unanimously.

Council Liaison Taylor reported to the commission that she was looking into different options to obtain land for more soccer fields. She also discussed that the city would be receiving money from the Lakewoods Development in place of land for a park.

Deputy City Clerk informed the commission that the Summer Recreation program was done for the year, all had gone well. The commission asked if the Director could make a report at the September meeting. The Deputy Clerk will get a hold of the Director.

Due to the Labor Day holiday the commission will meet September 4, 2007 at 6:30 P.M.

Upon a motion by Hiatt, second by Hoppenworth the commission voted vocally and unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 P.M.
