Planning and Zoning Commission Regular Meeting October 15, 2007 The Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Polk City met in regular session on October 15, 2007 at City Hall in Polk City, Iowa. Present were Dennis Dietz, Neal Hawkins, Ron Hankins, Paul Swenson, Bill Kliegl and Doug Sires. Also present were Administrator Gary Mahannah, Engineering Representative Kathleen Connor and Council Liaison Ron Anderson. Chairman Hankins called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. Motion was made by Hawkins to approve the minutes of September 17, 2007, second by Dietz Motion was approved vocally and unanimously. Commissioner Dietz introduced Andry Steknashchuk and Andry Buryy attorneys from the Ukraine who are in the United States to study our judicial system and are staying with the Dietz family. Caleb Smith of McClure Engineering was present to address the commission concerning the final development plan and final plat of Lakeside Plat 3. This plat is the first plat in the PUD which is located east of Parker Boulevard and south of Washington St. This plat includes two single family lots fronting on Washington Street as well as a 1.2 acre park located along Parker Blvd. The Plat also includes open space in the form of a 40’ wide landscape easement on the south side of both lots, adjacent to the park, and a 40’ wide Landscape Easement adjacent to Parker Blvd. Since these areas are wooded a berm is not proposed Upon a motion by Swenson, second by Kliegl the commission voted vocally and unanimously to approve the Final Development Plan and Final Plat for Lakeside Plat 3 upon completion of the City Engineers recommendations. No Engineers Report. City Administrator Mahannah discussed with the commission the Procedure on Filling Vacancies on Various City Boards. Much discussion took place on this matter. The commission discussed Making Green a Reality workshop that Commissioner Dietz attended. The commission asked the City Administrator to look into asking someone with more information on this matter to speak to the commission in the near future. Commissioner Hankins asked if there was any further information needed from the commission concerning the Ag Zoning before the scheduled public hearing on October 22, 2007. Administrator Mahannah said that none was needed. Upon a motion by Hawkins, second by Swenson the commission voted vocally and unanimously to adjourn the meeting at 6:40 P.M.
